Report on the Exploring Senses 'Dream World' Animation Project
Overview: 'Dream World' is an engaging animation project created by Exploring Senses artists Dave Liteyear and Tamsin Allistone, commissioned for the Dreamy Place 2024 festival. This initiative showcases a collaborative effort between artists and young people from Crawley, UK, emphasising creativity and community engagement.
Workshops: The project involved three interactive workshops held at Crawley Library on September 21, September 28, and October 5, 2024. During these sessions, participants aged 13-25 learned to use 3D pens and iPads with Procreate, enabling them to create impressive digital artworks and clips that contributed to the animation. Participants were encouraged to explore themes such as geometric mutations, mycelium networks, AI, folk tales, ancient civilisations, sci-fi, and hyperreality, allowing them to embark on epic space journeys and uncover hidden realms.
Roles and Contributions: Dave Liteyear crafted the animation and its accompanying soundtrack, while Tamsin Allistone facilitated the workshops and contributed her own animation clips. Together, they successfully brought the project’s vision to fruition, transforming the participants' creative ideas into a short animated film using Procreate Dreams.
Community Engagement: Participation in the @dreamyplaceuk festival has been an enriching experience, highlighting the importance of community engagement in the arts. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Dreamy Place Crew and the supportive Crawley community, as well as the library team, for their invaluable assistance throughout this journey.
